Chemical peels involve the use of a chemical compound medication which is applied in layers to the skin’s surface. The chemical works to exfoliate the damaged, thickened surface of the skin and boost collagen production for firmer skin and a healthy glow.

There are a variety of chemical compounds used in peels that vary in strength and intensity of the result. So despite their name, one may not actually see visible ‘peeling’ of the skin after a gentle treatment, or on the contrary a more aggressive treatment may result in a fews days of flaky peeling of the surface skin.
