Crepe paper is thin, fragile and often wrinkled, and we can use the term “Crepiness” to refer to skin demonstrating those same qualities. People with very thin skin may bruise easily, and often veins, tendons, and capillaries are easily seen if skin is fair.
Skin has three layers: the epidermis (superficial), the dermis (the middle layer) and the subcutaneous layer. The dermis layer is primarily made of fibrous collagen and elastin which provides strength and structure to the skin. As skin ages, accumulates sun damage, and other lifestyle factors such as smoking – it produces less collagen, resulting in thinning skin.
